· The Johari Window emphasizes that we may not be aware of everything that there is to know about ourselves. Others may know things about us that we just cannot see or are unwilling to admit. One way to improve our personal relationships is to increase what we know about ourselves and what others know about us. The following two (2) behaviors are key to improving personal and professional relationships:
· Openness to Feedback – we have to recognize that others see things in us that we may not be aware of and accept information they provide.
· Willingness to Disclose – we have to trust others enough to share personal information with them.
Grasping the realities of organizational behavior begins with an understanding one’s own personality and behavioral tendencies. Assignment 1 is designed to address issues of personal understanding, planning, and professional development. By analyzing your own assessment, you will understand how intuitiveness, culture, diversity, and leadership style influence decision making. Reference the scores of the assessments that you completed for homework in Week 1 as you complete this assignment.
Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:
1. Develop a profile of your personality characteristics and assessment results.
2. Summarize the results of the assessments you completed for homework in Week 1.
3. Analyze how attributes / scores speak to your relationships and career choice.
4. Submit the completed Self-Assessment Score Sheet as an appendix in Assignment 1.
5. Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Interpretation: Transactional and transformational leadership are two distinct managerial styles that either seek to maintain or change the organization. Transactional leadership is largely characterized by a desire to maintain the company’s existing culture, policies, and procedures. It uses a reward-and-punishment based system to compel employees to perform certain behaviors. In contrast, the transformational leadership style seeks to provoke change in the way the company operates. Leaders who exhibit transformational leadership are often characterized as charismatic, inspiring, and motivating.

Interpretation: Initially I thought I was very intuitive. I found that I am not. The intuition of a leader comes into play when there is insufficient data and time, conflicting information, or a multitude of viable options when a big decision must be made. For an organization to be successful, not only must you have some sense of intuition, but you need it in those who surround you as well.

Interpretation: Conflict is a natural part of working in groups, because different people have different ideas and viewpoints. Sooner or later, every leader will have to deal with a conflict between two or more people.
What matters is how the leader and group members address the conflict. Dynamic leaders know that conflict usually doesn’t go away by itself. It may seem to disappear, but then it pops up again in an unexpected place or time. Dynamic leader’s help members learn to:
• Practice “cooling off” before speaking
• Reverse roles to see the other person’s point of view
• Realize it’s only fair for both parties to tell their side of the story
• Look at conflicts as problems, then solve them together
• Ask for help if they cannot resolve the conflict.

Assessment: Organizational Design Preference
Interpretation: Organizational design as a systematic approach to configuring and aligning structures, processes, culture, leadership, people practices and metrics in organizations. This approach is used to make decisions about grouping people and resources together to create the best environment. I scored 67 which shows I am comfortable with mechanistic design. The functional organizational structure of a mechanistic design starts with its tall, triangular shape. Many workers form the structure’s foundation, grouped into departments by similar activities such as production. Above them sits their managers. When each employee narrowly specializes in some limited part of a larger whole, one manager can easily supervise many employees and has a wide “span of control.” The span of control gets smaller moving up the organization, where managers manage other managers. The central power of the company crowns it all.
Assessment: Which Culture Fits You?
Interpretation: I sit into the baseball team, which is said to value talent, entrepreneurial activity, and performance over commitment; one that offers large financial rewards and individual recognition. I would agree with this assessment of myself.
